An object is moving with velocity 6 ms-1
towards a plane mirror, what will be the velocity of
image towards the (i) mirror (ii) object?

Answer:

i) If the velocity of object towards the plane mirror is 6 m/s  then the velocity of image towards the mirror will also be 6 m/s.

ii) On calculating the distance between object and image, the image distance from the object will be twice as the image distance from the mirror. Hence similarly if the velocity of image towards the mirror is 6 m/s then the velocity of image towards the object will be twice the velocity of image towards the mirror. Thus it is 12 m/s.
