If the mirror is moved 2 cm toward the object.

The between image and mirror = 20-2=18 cm.

Therefore the total distance between the position of original and final image is

d =distancce distance of original image - distance of final image

d = 40- 36

d = 4 cm

Hence , the total distance between the position of the original and final image is 4 cm.
