An object is placed 15cm from a convex mirror of focal length 45. The image formed is at ?

Given:

u = -15 cm

f = 45 cm ( positive for a convex mirror )

To find:

v = ?

Applying Mirror formula i.e.

 \frac{1}{v} +  \frac{1}{u} =  \frac{1}{f}


 \frac{1}{v} =  \frac{1}{f} -  \frac{1}{u}


 \frac{1}{v} =  \frac{1}{45} - ( \frac{-1}{15} )


 \frac{1}{v} =  \frac{1+3}{45} ( by taking lcm)


 \frac{1}{v} =  \frac{4}{45}


v =  \frac{45}{4}


v = 11.25 (approx)

The image will be virtual and erect as convex mirror always form virtual and erect image and it will be formed at a distance of 11.25 cm
