We generally take the light rays coming from left of mirror.

Given : u = -18 cm, v = 4 cm

By mirror formula ; 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

1/4 - 1/18 = (9 - 2) / 36 = 1/f

1/f = 7/36 , f = 36/7 cm, it is a convex mirror.

m = -v/u = 2/9, so the image is virtual, erect and diminished.
