GiveN :

  • Object distance (u) = - 25cm
  • Radius of Curvature (R) = 10 cm
  • Concave Mirror

To FinD :

  • Image Distance, nature

SolutioN :

As we know that,

⇒R = 2f

⇒f = R/2

⇒f = 10/2

⇒f = 5

Focal length is 5cm, and we know that concave mirror have negative focal length, So focal length will be -5 cm.

\rule{200}{2}

Now, use mirror formula

⇒1/f = 1/v + 1/u

⇒1/v = 1/f - 1/u

⇒1/v = -1/5 - (-1/25)

⇒1/v = -1/5 + 1/25

⇒1/v = -5 + 1/25

⇒1/v = -4/25

⇒v = -25/4

⇒v = -6.25

  • Image is formed at 6.25 from lens, negative sign denotes it is formed on the left of mirror .

\rule{200}{2}

Now, use formula for magnification

⇒m = -v/u

⇒m = -6.25/-25

⇒m = 0.25

  • Magnification is +0.5
  • Image is Virtual and erect
