Explanation:

given: object distance= 4 cm

focal length of convex mirror= 5 cm.

we know a formula: 1/f= 1/u+1/v

where, f= focal length, u= object distance, v= image distance

we need to find image distance= v

so, by substituting the values in above formula..

so, 1/5= 1/4+1/v

1/v= 1/5-1/4

1/v= -1/20

v= -20 cm

here, minus(-) symbol indicates negative direction of image

so, image distance= 20 cm
