Question :–

An object is placed at a distance of 10 cm from a convex mirror of focal length 15 cm find the magnification of the image.

Given :–

  1. u = 10 cm
  2. F = 15 cm

To Find :–

  • The magnification of the image.

Formula Used :–

  •  \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{v}  +  \frac{1}{u}

Solution :–

We know that,

F & u are given above in the question already.

So, We will find v.

So, the formula will be :-

 \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{1}{f}  -  \frac{1}{u}

 \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{1}{15}  -  \frac{1}{10}

【L.C.M. is refer in the above attachment】

 \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{2 + 3}{30}

v =  \frac{ \cancel5}{ \cancel30}

v = 6 \: cm

Hence, the image is formed as virtual magnification.

m =  \frac{ - v}{ - u}

m =  \frac{ - 6}{ - 10}

m = 0.6

Hence, it will be diminished & erect.
