Given that

u= -10 cm

f= 15 cm

Find out

We need to find v

Formula

We know the formula

1/f = 1/v + 1/u

Therefore, 1/v = 1/f – 1/u

Substituting the known values in the above equation we get,

1/v = 1/15 – (-1/10)

1/v= 1/15 + 1/10

1/v = (2 + 3)/30 (LCM)

Hence

v = 5/30

v = 6cm

The image is formed behind the mirror and it is virtual

Answer:

  • Image distance is 60cm
  • Nature of image is virtual, erect & enlarged

Step-by-step explanation:

According to the Question

It is given that,

  • Object distance ,u = -10cm
  • Focal length ,f = 12cm

we have to calculate the position & nature of image .

Firstly we calculate the position of image .

By using Lens Formula .

  • 1/v - 1/u = 1/f

On substituting the we get

↠ 1/v - 1/(-10) = 1/12

↠ 1/v + 1/10 = 1/12

↠ 1/v = 1/12 - 1/10

↠ 1/v = 5-6/60

↠ 1/v = -1/60

↠ v = -60cm

  • Hence, the image distance is 60cm

Now, calculating the nature of image .

  • m = v/u

On substituting the value we get

↠ m = -60/-10

↠ m = +6

  • Since magnification is positive So, the nature of image is virtual , erect & enlarged .
