An object is placed at a distance of 10 cm from the convex mirror of focal length 5 cm. find the distance of the image formed

u = -10cm. (object distance)

f = 5cm. (focal length)

v = ? (image distance)

From the mirror formula,

1/v + 1/u = 1/f

Or, 1/v + 1/-10 = 1/5

Or, 1/v - 1/10 = 1/5

Or, 1/v = 1/5 + 1/10

Or, 1/v = (2+1)/10

Or, 1/v = 3/10

Or, v = 10/3

= 3.33cm

this means the image is formed at a distance of 3.33cm from the mirror.
