U= -10 cm

f= 15 cm

1/f = 1/v + 1/u

So, 1/v= 1/f - 1/u

1/v= 1/15 + 1/10

1/v = (2+3)/30 (lcm)

Therefore v=5/30 = 6 cm

Hence the image is formed behind the mirror and therefore it is virtual and erect

Given:

  • u = -10 cm
  • f = 15 cm

To Find:

  • Position and nature of the image

Solution:

Applying mirror formula:

➠ 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

➠ 1/v + 1/-10 = 1/15

➠ 1/v = 1/15 + 1/10

➠ 10 + 15/150 = 25/100

➠ v = 150/25 = 6cm

  • Thus, the image is at the distance of 6cm from the pole.

  • The image is formed behind the mirror.
