from the concave mirror formula..

 \frac{1}{v}  +  \frac{1}{u}  =  \frac{1}{f}

now ..given

u=-12cm

r=-16cm

now...f=(r/2)=-16/2=-8cm

therefore...

 \frac{1}{v}  +  \frac{1}{ - 12}  =  \frac{1}{ - 8}  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{1}{12}  -  \frac{1}{8}  \\  =  >  \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{2 - 3}{24}  \\  =  > v =  - 24 \:  \: cm

therefore the image will form on the same side where the object is placed at a distance of 24 cm from the mirror..
