Given that,

Object distance,u=-25cm
Image distance=-37.5 cm
For a mirror,we know that,
1/f=1v+1/u
=1/(-37.5) +1/(-25)
f=-15cm

This will be a concave mirror

f=15\ cm is the focal length of the CONCAVE mirror.

Explanation:

Given:

  • distance of object from the pole in-front of the spherical mirror, o=25\ cm
  • distance of image from the pole in-front of the spherical mirror, i=37.5\ cm

We consider the object's distance always positive and the distance of image as positive when it is on the same side of the object.

Now form the equation of spherical mirrors:

\frac{1}{f} =\frac{1}{o} +\frac{1}{i}

\frac{1}{f} =\frac{1}{25} +\frac{1}{37.5}

\frac{1}{f} =\frac{1}{15}

f=15\ cm

Since the value comes out to be positive so we can conclude that the mirror is concave.
