At the first instance the distance of image is negative so the image is formed on the same side of the object and is real inverted and highly magnified. This happens because the object is kept at focus

At the second instance the distance of image is positive so the image is formed on the opposite side of the object and is virtual erect and enlarged (but smaller than the first one).This happens because the object is kept between focus and pole
