the position of the image is 1.33 cm, it is a real and inverted image

Full explanation

⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇⬇

Using the Real Is Positive convention, everything is real — therefore positive.

1/u + 1/v = 1/f

1/4 + 1/v = 1/1

1/v = 3/4

v = 4/3 — positive hence real

M = v/u = +1/3 — positive hence inverted

Image is Real, Inverted, Diminished x 1/3, and 4/3 cm from mirror.

✰ Question Given :

  • An object is placed at a distance of 4cm from a Concave mirror of focal length 15 cm. Find the position and nature of the image.

✰ Required Solution :

★ Value Given to us :

  • object is placed at a distance of 4 cm

  • Concave mirror of focal length 15 cm.

★ Formula Used Here :

  • 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

★ Putting Value in Formula :

  • ➦ 1/v + 1/(- 15) = 1/4

  • ➦ 1/v - 1/15 = 1/4

  • ➦ 1/v = 1/4 + 1/15

  • ➦ 1/v = (15 + 4)/60

  • ➦ 1/v = 19/60

  • ➦ 1/v = 60 / 19

  • ➦ v = 3.15cm

Hence :

The image distance is 3 (Approx) cm.

✰ Nature , Position of the image :

  • The image is formed behind the mirror and it is virtual and erect.
