The focal length is 13 cm  and image is placed at 40 cm from the mirror.

Explanation:

Image is inverted and double the size means magnification v/u is -2

So v = -2u

Given data:

u = 20 Then v = 40

By sign convention , both u and v are taken negative

By mirror formula

l/f = l/u + l/v

1/f = 1/20 + 1/40

1/f = 0.075

We get f = -13.3 cm ~ 13 cm

So focal length 13 cm

Image is placed at 40 cm from the mirror on the same side of the object.
