Position of image is 15 cm, real and inverted and magnification is (-0.5)

Explanation:

Given that,

Object distance from a convex lens, u = -30 cm

Focal length of the convex lens, f = +10 cm

Let v is the image distance. Using lens formula to find it as :

\dfrac{1}{v}-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{f}+\dfrac{1}{u}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{(10)}+\dfrac{1}{(-30)}\\\\v=15\ cm

Magnification of lens is given by :

m=\dfrac{v}{u}\\\\m=\dfrac{15}{-30}\\\\m=-0.5

The formed image is real and inverted.
