An object is placed exactly mid-way btw. a concave mirror of radius of curvature 40cm and a convex mirror of radius of curvature 30cm. The mirror face each other and are 50cm apart. Determine the nature and position formed by successive reflection at concave and then at convex mirror.

✍ 150/7 cm from right to the convex mirror

➡Virtual image

EXPLANATION —

For concave mirror—

u = - 25 cm

f = - 20 cm

By mirrors formula

1/f = 1/v + 1/u

⇒f = - 100 cm

For Convex mirror—

↪The image will act as virtual object as it lying behind the mirror

u = 50 cm

f = 15 cm

Again by mirrors formula

V = 150/7

virtual image ( positive sign)
