Given that,

Object distance, u = -8 cm

Focal length of the concave mirror, f = -3 cm

To find,

The position of image and characteristics of the image formed​.

Solution,

Using mirror's formula as :

\dfrac{1}{v}+\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{f}-\dfrac{1}{u}\\\\\dfrac{1}{v}=\dfrac{1}{(-3)}-\dfrac{1}{(-8)}\\\\v=-4.8\ cm

Using magnification of mirror as :

m=\dfrac{-v}{u}\\\\m=\dfrac{-(-4.8)}{-8}\\\\m=-0.6

The magnification shows that the formed image is real, inverted and diminished.
