CONVEX LENS

Given:

u= -40 cm

h'=10 cm

f= 20 cm

Solution :

1. Lens formula,

1/f= 1/v-1/u

1/v= 1/20-1/40

1/v=1/40

v= 40 cm

Image will be formed 40 cm behind the lens.

2. Magnification = v/u=40/-40

=-1

-1=h'/h

h= -h'

h = -10 cm

Image will be 10 cm high.

3. Nature of image : real and inverted

4. Image will of same size as of object size (as magnification is 1)
