Actually it's weight should increase as it nears the surface of the earth. but it's a very small difference cause if you see the radius of the earth which is very large compared to a mere
60km.
compare 60km to about 6000km.
it doesn't make much difference so the difference in weight is so negligible that we can assume that the weight remained constant throughout it's journey to the surface.
