An object is thrown vertically uoward from the surface of earth .If the upward direction is taken as positive . What is the direction of the velocity and acceleration of the object during its upward and downward motion?
Answers
Answer:
The direction of velocity would be positive when moving upwards while accleration would be negative.
While moving downwards acceleration and velocity both will be negative.
While moving upwards the direction of velocity is towards the upper side; It tends to make the ball move upwards hence velocity is positive. But acceleration acting on it(here acceleration is used as. vector term thereby considering retardation to be acceleration as well but with negative sign) is g(=9.8m/s^2) acting due to the force of earth which is constantly trying to bring a retardation in the velocity as it has the tendency to attract the ball solely towards earth which makes it act in downward ⬇⏬⬇ direction hence making the acceleration negative.
While.moving downwards both the acceleration as well as velocity tend to bring the body towards earth.Hence making both of them negative.
