Answer: After 5 seconds, velocity of the object is 15 m/s downwards.

Explanation:

Let the upward direction be positive and downward direction be negative.

Initial velocity (u) = 35 m/s upwards

Initial velocity (u) = 35 m/s

Acceleration of object = g downwards

Acceleration of object =  - 10 m/s²

Let the velocity after t seconds be v.

According to first equation of motion : v = u + at

v ⇒ Final velocity

u ⇒ Initial velocity

a ⇒ acceleration

t ⇒ time

∴ v = 35 - 10t

At t = 5 sec,

v = 35 - 10(5)

v = -15 m/s

v = 15 m/s downwards
