Answer:

Explanation:

Height stone will rise to above the building.

u^2 = 2as

42^2 = 2 x 9.8 x s

s = 90m

Height of stone above the ground:

s = 90 + 18

s= 108 m

Velocity just before it hits the ground:

v^2 = 2as

v^2 = 2 x 9.8 x 108

v = 46 m/s.

After the stone reaches its maximum height, the velocity is ZERO. Gravity slowed it down to a point where it stopped rising and immediately started falling.
