Acceleration due to gravity on moon is 1/6 times that of earth.

So the weight of any object on moon will be 1/6th of the weight of the object on earth

The weight of object on earth = 10N

Weight on moon = 10/6 = 1.67 N

WEIGHT ON MOON IS 1.67 N.

Given:

  • Weight on earth = 10N

To find:

Weight on moon ?

Calculation:

First of all, let's calculate the mass of the object.

mass =  \dfrac{weight}{g}

 \implies mass =  \dfrac{10}{10}

 \implies mass = 1 \: kg

Now, we know:

  • Mass is constant everywhere.
  • Gravity on moon is ⅙ the gravity on earth.

So, weight on moon is :

W_{moon} = mass \times  g_{moon}

 \implies W_{moon} =1 \times ( \dfrac{1}{6}  \times 10)

 \implies W_{moon} =1.67 \: N

So, weight on moon is 1.67 N.
