Explanation:

It is given that,

Mass of the object, m₁ = 16 kg

Acceleration of the object, a_1=3\ m/s^2

The product of mass and the acceleration of an object is called the force applied to it. Mathematically, it is given by :

F = m a

F=16\ kg\times 3\ m/s^2

F = 48 N

If the same force is applied on an object of mass 24 kg, m₂ = 24 kg

Let the acceleration of the object is a₂. Again using the second law of motion as :

a_2=\dfrac{F}{m_2}

a_2=\dfrac{48\ N}{24\ kg}

a_2=2\ m/s^2

So, the acceleration of the object is 2\ m/s^2. Hence, this is the required solution.
