Given:

An object moves from point A to B, then B to C, then C to D & then finally to A.

To find:

1) distance =?

2) displacement =?

Explanation:

1)

Let l & b the length & breadth of the rectangle respectively.

An object moves from point A to B, then B to C, then C to D & then finally to A.

i. e. it travels distance is equal to the perimeter of the rectangle.

∴ d = perimeter of the rectangle

  d = 2( l +b )

2)

A displacement is the shortest distance between the initial position to the final position of a point undergoing motion.

As the object travels distance A→B→C→D→A.

i.e. object travels from different points but returns to the original point.

So displacement of the object is 0.

S = 0
