The velocity of the image is 7 m/s.

Explanation:

Given data:

Velocity of object = 5 m/s

Velocity of mirror = 1 m/s

Solution:

  • Following formula can be used to determine the velocity of image.

V = [ 2 ( Velocity of mirror ) + velocity of object]

V = [ 2 x 1 + 5

V = 2 + 5 = 7 m/s

Thus the velocity of the image is 7 m/s.

Explanation:

vi - vm = vm - v0

vi - (-1) = (-1) - 5

--vi = -7 ms-1

-- The velocity to image is 7 ms-1 and direction

is toward left.
