An object moves with a uniform speed of 10 m/s for 5 s and then with a uniform speed of 5 m/s for 10 s. Find its average speed.​

The final answer is - 6.66m/s.

Solution:-

1st case:-

10 m/s for 5 seconds

s = vt

= 10×5

= 50m

2nd case:-

5 m/s for 10 seconds

s = vt

= 5×10

= 50 m

Average velocity = total distance/total time

= 50+50/5+10

= 100/15

= 6.66 m/s
