Given :-

  • Initial velocity = 36 km/h= 10 m/s
  • Time taken = 5 min = 300s
  • It comes rest after 5 min

To find :-

  • Distance travelled = ?

Solution :-

Here , from the given question final velocity of the particle will be 0 because the body comes to rest after 300s

Now , firstly acceleration using 1sy equation of motion

v = u + at

Where

  • v : final velocity
  • u : initial velocity
  • t : time
  • a : Acceleration

Substituting the known values we have

→ 0 = 10 + a(300)

→ - 10 = 300a

→ a = - 10/300

a = - 0.03 m/

Now , finding distance using third equation of motion

S = ut + 1/2 at²

Wher

  • S : distance = ?
  • u : initial velocity = 36 km/h = 10 m/s
  • t : time take = 5 min = 300s
  • a : acceleration = - 0.03 m/s²

→ S = 10(300) + 1/2 × (-0.03) × (300)²

→ S = 3000 + ( - 0.16 ) × 90000

→ S = 3000 - 1500

→ S = 1500 m

Hence , distance travelled = 1500 m = 1.5 km
