Given:

  • A semi-circle of radius = 3.2 m
  • Time taken by object = 4 seconds

To find:

  • Average speed of object = ?
  • Average velocity = ?

Solution:

We know, velocity = Displacement/time.

Here, in circular motion the displacement is 2×pi×r.

Hence, the average velocity in circular motion = 2×pi×r/time

Since, it's a semi-circle so the velocity in circular motion will also be halved.

So, the final formula will be applied is:

 v  \: =  \:  \frac{2\pi r}{t \times 2}

(putting values for average velocity)...

 =  =  >  \:  \frac{2 \times 22 \times 3.2}{4 \times 2}

 =  =  >  \:  \frac{11\times 32}{4 \times 5}

 =  =  >  \:  \frac{88}{5}

==> 17.6 m/s

Hence, the average velocity of the object = 17.6 m/s
