An object of 2.5cm long is placed on the axis of a concave mirror of 30cm radius of curvature at a distance of 10cm from it. Find the position and nature of the image formed.

Given :- height of object 2.5 cm, Radius of curvature 30 cm, focal length 15 cm, object distance 10 cm

Solution:-

By using mirror equation  

1/f = 1/v + 1/u

As object is placed in between focus and pole  so image will be obtained behind the mirror..  

By using sign convention,  

f & u will be negative..

By Substituting all the values..

(-1/15) = 1/v + (-1/10)

You will get V = 30 cm

By using magnifying power formula  

M. P =  image distance  /  object distance  

M. P = 30/ 10 =3  

By one more formal of magnify power  

M. P = size of image / size of object  

3 = size of image / 2.5  

Therefore, size of image is 3 * 2.5 = 7.5 cm
