An object of height 1.2m is placed before a convex mirror of focal length 20cm so that the real image is formed at the distance of 60 cm. Find the position of the object. What will be the height of the image formed ?

Solution:

Applying, 1/v + 1/u = 1/f

➠ 1/ -60 + 1/u = 1/ -20

➠ 1/u = 1/20 + 1/60

➠ -3 + 1/60

➠ -2/60 = -1/30

Hence, u (Position) = - 30 cm

Also, h¹/h

➠ v/u = h¹/12

➠ -60/-30 = -2

Therefore, height is 2.4m
