Answer :-

Given:

Object distance (u) = -20 cm

Focal length (f) = 12 cm

To find:

Image distance (v) = ?

Solution:

Mirror formula:

  • 1/f = 1/v + 1/u

=> 1/12 = 1/v - 1/20

=> 1/12 + 1/20 = 1/v

=> 5 + 3/60 = 1/v

=> 8/60 = 1/v

=> 2/15 = 1/v

=> v = 15/2

v = 7.5 cm [Image distance]
