An object of height 2 cm is held at a distance of 40 cm in front of a concave mirror of focal length
15 cm? Find the nature, position and size of the image?

Answer:

Focal length, f = 15 cm

object distance, 4 = 25 cm

object height, ho= 40 cm

From mirror formula

 \frac{1}{f}  =  \frac{1}{v}  +  \frac{1}{u}

 \frac{1}{ - 5}  =  \frac{1}{ - 25}  +  \frac{1}{v}

 =  >  \frac{1}{v}  =  \frac{1}{ - 15}  +  \frac{1}{25}

v = 37.5cm

magnification \:  \:  m =  \frac{v}{u}  =  \frac{hi}{ho}

 =  > m =  -  \frac{( - 37.5)}{ - 25}  \frac{hi}{4}

hi =  \frac{ - 37.5 \times 4}{25}

hi = 6cm
