An object of height 5 cm placed in front of a spherical mirror whose focal length is 10 cm, at the distance of 30 cm. Draw ray diagrams and find out the position, nature and size of the image in following cases: (i) Convex mirror (ii) Concave mirror please give the diagram also

Height of the object = 5 cm

F = 10 cm

Object distance = -30 cm

We need to find image distance,

image distance v =

1/v + 1/u = 1/f

1/u = 1/10 - 1/(-30)

v = 30/3 = 10cm

Position : 15 cm is the image distance

Now let us find the magnification : - v/u = + 10/30 = 1/3

The object will be a diminished image formed behind the mirror. Hence it is a concave mirror..

Refer to your textbook for the diagram. It's diagram number 2 in the concave mirror page where the object is kept between P and infinity.
