Given - Height of object - 5 cm

Position of object (u) -30 cm

Focal length - 10 cm

Find - The position, size and nature of image formed.

Solution - To find the position of image formed, we will use the formula - 1/f = 1/v - 1/u.

Keeping the values in equation-

1/10 = 1/v -(-1/30)

1/v = 1/10 - 1/30

1/v = 30 - 10 /30

1/v = 20/30

v = 3/2 cm.

The find the size of image formed, the formula used will be -

Magnification - v/u - height of image/height of object.

Keeping the values in equation-

1.5/-30 = height of image/5

-0.25 = height of image.

Hence, an inverted image will be formed of 0.25 cm.

Therefore, position of image is 1.5 cm at opposite side of lens. The image formed is real and inverted of 0.25 cm.
