The gravitational force on the mass is vertically downward. While the displacement of the mass is horizontal. Since, the force and displacement are perpendicular to each other, there is no component of force in the direction of the displacement. Hence, work done by gravitational force is zero

Work done by gravitational force is zero. Because force and displacement are perpendicular to each other where there is no component of force in the direction of displacement.
