An object of mass 100 kg is accelerated uniformly from a velocity of 5 ms-1 to 8 ms-1 in 6s. Calculate initial and panal momentum. Also calculate the acceleration of the object.

m=100kg

u=5 m/s

v=8m/s

t=6s

Initial momentum =mu=100×5=500 kgm/s

Final momentum =mu=100×8=800 kgm/s

a = \frac{v - u }{t} \\ a =  \frac{8 - 5}{6}  =  \frac{3}{6}  =  \frac{1}{2} \\ a = 0.5 \: m {s}^{ - 2}
