Answer:

initial momentum  = 250 kg m/s

final momentum = 500 kg m/s

Explanation:

given:

mass(m) = 50kg

initial velocity(u) = 5m/s

final velocity(v) = 10m/s

solution:

Pi - initial momentum

pf - final momentum

momentum = mass x velocity

for initial momentum,

mass = 50kg ; velocity = 5m/s

Pi = m x u = mu

Pi = 50 x 5

Pi = 250 kg m/s

for final momentum,

mass remains the same but velocity changes (v = 10 m/s)

Pf = mv

Pf = 50 x 10

Pf = 500 kg m/s

∴ initial momentum (Pi) = 250 kg m/s

final momentum(Pf) = 500 kg m/s
