Complete Question :

An object of mass 5 kg is moving with the velocity of 10 m/s. Its velocity increase to 50 m/s on applying a contest force continusily of 4 s. Calculate the acceleration of the body and the force.

Answer :

Given :

  • Initial velocity (u) = 10 m/s
  • Final velocity (v) = 50 m/s
  • Time (t) = 4 seconds
  • Mass (m) = 5 kg

To find :

  • Acceleration (a) &
  • Force (F)

According to the question,

v = u + at

Where,

  • v stands for Final velocity
  • u stands for Initial velocity
  • a stands for Acceleration
  • t stands for Time

→ Substituting the values,

→ 50 = 10 + a × 4

→ 50 - 10 = 4a

→ 40 = 4a

→ 40 ÷ 4 = a

→ 10 = a

.°. The acceleration is 10 m/s²..

Now,

Force = Mass × Acceleration

Or,

→ F = ma

→ F = 5 × 10

→ F = 50 N

.°. The force is 50 Newton.
