Given :-
Height of object = h = 10 cm
Object distance = u = -40 cm
Focal Length = f = 60 cm
Focal length is positive because image if formed either side of the lens.
By Lens Formula, we know that,
1/v - 1/u = 1/f
1/v - (-1/40) = 1/60
1/v + 1/40 = 1/60
1/v = 1/60 - 1/40
1/v = 4-6/240
v = -120 cm
Again by a relation we know that,
Let the height of image = h'
h'/h = -v/u
h' = -v/u × h
h' = -(-120)/-40 × 10
h' = -30 cm
Hence,
The image distance = v = -120 cm
Height of image = h' = -30 cm
Nature of image = Real, Enlarge and inverted.
