Explanation:

Given that,

Size of the object, h = 5 cm

Focal length of the concave lens, f = -15 cm

Image distance, v = 10 cm

(1) Let u is the object distance. Using lens formula as :

\dfrac{1}{v}-\dfrac{1}{u}=\dfrac{1}{f}

\dfrac{1}{v}+\dfrac{1}{f}=\dfrac{1}{u}

\dfrac{1}{3}+\dfrac{1}{-15}=\dfrac{1}{u}

\dfrac{1}{10}+\dfrac{1}{-15}=\dfrac{1}{u}

u = 30 cm

(2) Using the magnification formula as :

m=\dfrac{h}{h'}=\dfrac{v}{u}

h' is the size of image

\dfrac{5}{h'}=\dfrac{10}{30}

h' = 15 cm
