Provided that:

  • Initial velocity = 0 mps
  • Acceleration = 2 mps sq.
  • Time = 1 second

To calculate:

  • The displacement

Solution:

  • The displacement = 1 m

Using concept:

  • Second equation of motion

Using formula:

  • s = ut + ½ at²

Where, a denotes acceleration, u denotes initial velocity, s denotes displacement or distance or height, t denotes time taken.

Required solution:

»»» s = ut + ½ at²

»»» s = 0(1) + ½ × 2 × (1)²

»»» s = 0 + ½ × 2 × 1 × 1

»»» s = 0 + ½ × 2

»»» s = ½ × 2

»»» s = 1/1 × 1

»»» s = 1 m

»»» Displacement = 1 m
