Answer:

An object can have zero displacement even when it has moved a distance and shown some displacement. This takes place when the final position of an object coincides with its own initial position. Let's say, if a person moves around circular area and comes back to the place from where he started then the displacement will be zero.

Given :

Initial velocity : zero

Final velocity : 50 m/s

Distance travelled : 400 m/s

To Find :

Acceleration of the object.

Solution :

Accerlation is the rate of change of velocity.

  • It is a vector quantity having both magnitude as well as direction.
  • SI unit of acceleration is metre per second square.

As we are provided with initial velocity, final velocity and distance travelled we can find accerlation using 3rd equation of motion that is

v² - u² = 2as

Where

  • v denotes final velocity
  • u denotes initial velocity
  • a denotes acceleration
  • s denotes distance

Now substituting all the given values in the formula,

➝ v² - u² = 2as

➝ (50)² - (0)² = 2a(400)

➝ 2500 - 0 = 800a

➝ 2500 = 800a

➝ 2500/800 = a

➝ a = 25/8

➝ a = 3.12 m/s²

Thus, acceleration of the object is 3.12 m/s²
