An object starts moving from the rest with
uniform acceleration and travels 20 m in first
2 s. What will be its velocity after 10 s from the
start and displacement of the particle in 10th
second?

Answer:

V = u + at

After 5s

25 = u + 5a ——(1)

After 8s

34 = u + 8a ——(2)

Subtract equation (1) from equation (2)

34 - 25 = u + 8a - u - 5a

9 = 3a

a = 3 m/s^2

Substitute a = 3m/s^2 in equation (1)

25 = u + 5*3

u = 10 m/s

Distance travelled in 10th second

S = u + a(n - 1/2)

S = 10 + 3*(12 - 1/2)

S = 44.5m

Distance travelled in 10th second is 44.5m

ANSWER

Displacement in first 2 s, s

1

=20 m

Displacement in first 6 s, s

2

=20+160=180 m

Note that

s

1

=5×2

2

s

2

=5×6

2

It can be concluded that s=5 t

2

.......(i)

s∝t

2

⟹Acceleration is constant

From second equation of motion for uniformly accelerated motion,

s=ut+(1/2)at

2

..........(ii)

From (i) and (ii),

a/2=5

a=10 m/s

2

At the end of 7 s,

v=u+at

=0+10×7

=70 m/s
