An object starts moving with initial velocity u and accelerates uniformly. Draw velocity time graph. Hence show that slope of graph gives acceleration of the object.

◆ Acceleration -

Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity per unit of time.

a = dv / dt ...(1)

Let a body starts its motion from point A (with initial velocity u) to point B (with final velocity v).

[Refer to the image for velocity time graph.]

Slope of the graph is calculated by -

Slope = (v2 - v1) / (t2 - t1)

Slope = dv / dt ...(2)

From (1) & (2),

a = slope
