An object starts to slide over a horizontal surface with an initial velocity of 0.5m/s. due to friction, it's velocity decreases at a rate of 0.05m/s^2.( acceleration=-0.05m/s^2). How much time will it take for the object to stop?

Answer:

Given :

u = 0.5m/s

v= 0 m/s (Since the object will stop)

a = - 0.05 m/s^2

we know

v=u+at

0=0.5+(-0.05)t

-0.5=-0.05t

(- sign gets cancels)

t= 0.5/0.05

t= 10 s
