Answer:

option 4) is correct 8.5m/s

Explanation:

We have

average velocity= Total distance/total time

= (35m+50m)/ (4s+6s)

= 85m/10s

= 8.5m/s

Given,

  • An object travelling along a straight path covers 35 m distance in 4 seconds. In next 6 seconds, it covers 50 m distance. What is the average speed of the object

To Find,

  • Average speed

Answer :-

  • According to the question

it is given that,

  • Distance covered in 1st case, d¹ = 35m
  • Time taken in 1st case, t¹ = 4s
  • Distance covered in 2nd case, d² = 50m
  • Time taken in 2nd case, t² = 6

we have to calculate average speed of the object

Average speed is calculated by the sum of total distance covered divided by the total time taken

  • Average speed = total distance / total time taken

substitute the value we get

  • Average speed = d¹ + d² / t¹ + t²
  • " " = 35 + 50 /4 + 6
  • " " = 85 /10
  • Average speed = 8.5 m/s

Hence, the average speed of the object is 8.5 m/s
