Average Speed is the ratio of the total distance traveled by the object to the total time taken by the object to cover that amount of distance.

So, using this formula:

Average speed = Total distance / Total time

S = (24+16) / (4+8)

S = 40/12 = 3.33 m/sec.

Thus, the average speed of the object is 3.33 m/sec.

Hopefully this helps!

Answer:

Solution:

•Average speed is the ratio of total

distance covered by the body to the

total time taken by the body to cover

this distance.

•Here, an object travels unequal

distance in equal intervals of time,

irrespective of the interval of time, so

it's accelerated motion.

Total distance = 16 + 16 = 32m

Total time = 4+2 = 6s

Average speed = Total distance travelled/Total time taken.

Average speed = 32/6

Average speed = 16/3

Average speed = 3×5+1

Average speed = 5.33m/s.
