Answer:

S₁ = 20m  ,  T₁ = 4 sec ,  S₂ = 20 m ,  T₂ = 2 sec

Average speed =  Sum of different speeds of the object / total time taken

20 + 20 / 4 + 2    =    40 / 6    =  20 / 3

We have been given that an object travels 20 m in 4 seconds & another 20 m in 2 seconds.

We have to find average speed of object.

Solution

1st distance covered = d= 20 m

1st time taken = t= 4 seconds.

2nd distance covered = d= 20 m

2nd time taken = t= 2 seconds.

As we know that,

⇒ Av. speed = Total distance/Total time

Putting all values :

⇒ Av. speed = (d₁ + d₂)/(t₁ + t₂)

⇒ Av. speed = (20 + 20)/(4 + 2)

⇒ Av. speed = 40/6

Av. speed = 6.67 m/s

Therefore,

Average speed of object = 6.67 m/s
